What JOSCAR registration means for aerospace and defence buyers

MSR Avionics · 11 August 2026 · Supplier assurance

MSR Avionics is now JOSCAR registered. For procurement and supplier-quality teams, that means key assurance information can be reviewed through a shared system before detailed technical and commercial discussions begin.

What is JOSCAR?

JOSCAR is the Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register, administered by Hellios Information. Participating aerospace, defence and security buying organisations use it to access structured supplier information through a common assurance process.

The information requested can cover areas including company structure, financial standing, insurance, quality, health and safety, environmental management, business continuity, cyber security, data protection and responsible business practices.

Why shared supplier assurance matters

Regulated supply chains require more than technical capability. Buyers also need confidence that a supplier can manage documentation, risk, information and delivery responsibly. Repeating the same foundational checks for every prospective customer adds time and administration on both sides.

JOSCAR provides participating buyers with a consistent source of supplier assurance information. This can make the early stages of qualification clearer and allow subsequent conversations to focus on the specific engineering, quality and commercial requirements of a programme.

What registration does—and does not—mean

Our JOSCAR registration demonstrates that MSR has completed the applicable supplier-information process. It does not mean that every participating organisation has approved MSR for every category of work, and it does not guarantee a contract. Each buyer retains its own technical, commercial and programme-specific approval requirements.

How this complements our quality system

JOSCAR registration sits alongside our ISO 9001:2015-certified quality management system. ISO 9001 provides the framework for controlled processes, document discipline, nonconformance handling and continual improvement. JOSCAR helps present wider supplier-assurance information to participating buyers in a standardised way.

Together, these credentials support the practical behaviours our customers value: repeatable manufacture, controlled build records, clear traceability and straightforward supplier onboarding.

What this means when sourcing from MSR

A useful milestone, not the finish line

Registration does not replace performance. Supplier confidence is earned through technical fit, honest communication, consistent quality and reliable delivery. We see JOSCAR as another useful part of that evidence—not as a substitute for it.
